Film Festival

Today our whole school had the chance to watch some of the films that were selected along with all the other Manaiakalani schools. It was the first time we went to one of these so we were all excited to see the films. Here are a few photos from yesterdays Manaiakalani Film Festival.

Last Day Of Whiz Kids

Today was the last day of Whiz Kids and for our experiment we had to make was a Parachute. It worked well everyone had a go at letting go of there Parachute's and looking if they would actually work and everything was a success everyone's Parachutes worked.

Cybersmart!

Today we had to make a blog post and show the steps by step on how to make an excellent blog post. Here is my Cybersmart work. 

PB4L

Today in PB4L our teacher gave us a piece of paper and it had our school values in each box. Miss Tupou asked us if we had any thoughts of what we should write on the top of the paper, and when we told her 6 ideas she then wrote it on the piece of paper and placed it on our tables. We looked at the paper and she said we had to write down how we show our school values in these places. Like for example if we had talking on our piece of paper then we had to write down how we show Fun,Integrity,Respect and Excellence when were talking. She had 6 pieces of paper at different stations and we spent 2 minutes writing our ideas down and rotating to the next.

For Inquiry our class was told to choose an inspirational leader and do a character profile about them and add a photo of them. This is my character profile about Parris Goebel. 

Whiz Kids

Today we had a program that went for an hour called Whiz Kids. What is Whiz Kids your probably wondering well Whiz Kids is a program as I told you that some students from Glen Taylor Students go to from 3:30 to 4:30. The reason why we have Whiz Kids is so we can learn about science, because not many people learn science at this age so we are very lucky to have someone to come to school and teach us about science. It was a very good experiment, we all had heaps of fun and learned lots.

Hector Zeroni-Holes

Last term our teacher read us a book and it was called holes. She told us to choose a character from the book and write 6 facts about them. I have chosen Zero, here are 6 facts about Zero. I hope you learnt a bit about Zero from Holes. 

Powhiri

Today our school held a Powhiri to welcome all the new students and staff members to our school. We had songs sung by our Kappa Hakka joined in by our school. When the Powhiri finished our principle told our new students and staff members that our school were gonna do a few items for them. Here is a few photos from our Powhiri.

Student Led Conference

Today we had Student Led Conference. Student Led Conference is a day that we get to bring our parents to school and we share our learning with them, and we show them how much progress we have made since the year started.

Star Signs!

For Maths Room 11 had to write down all the Star signs in their maths books. After we wrote all the Star-signs down inside our maths books we had to go around the classroom and ask all the students what their Star-sign was. Not everyone finished it but here are some photos.

Introduction	This explanation is going to tell you about why I have chosen my parents as my role models. I couldn’t think of anyone else who has helped me through thick and thin. I love my parents the same way I love my family.
Information 1st element	My mum is one of my role models because she has always told me how to respect others even if they have not shown respect to me. At home everyday she has rules that I have to stick too,if I break them I know there will be consequences so I always try my best to not break them. If I told her my problems she would always be there to help me get through it all without her hearing me say ‘‘but how am i supposed to do that’’. I always love the moment when we just sit down together and start talking about how everything at school is going for me, and I feel when she tells me what to do. My mum is the best thing I could ever ask for.
Information 2nd element	My dad is also my role model. Even though I am not a daddy’s girl, I still love him the same way I love my mum. He is not always there for me because he is always at work, working for the rest of us. The thing I like about him is that even though he is at work he always takes his time to sit with us and talk to us about how our days going. My dad is my hero, he is always there to help me out when I need it he knows when im angry and he know’s what to do to make me laugh and smile.
Information 3rd element	My parents are both my role models because they understand in everything I go through. They pick me up when I fall down. They tell me what I done wrong and tell me what I done right. They encourage me in everything I do and tell me to make sure I get high grades so I can become a better person in life.
Conclusion	These are the reasons why my parents are my role models.

DISCO!!!

On Friday June 2, our school held a school disco in the hall it started at 5:30 and ended at 7:30. It was a good night everyone dancing enjoying themselves. Some people may have been sitting down watching others dance, but most of us were dancing making the most of it. Everyone entered the disco with smiles on the face and they left the disco with smiles and sweat going down their face. That's how I knew everyone had a good time. Talofa Lava I Am Leetia

Talofa Lava my name is Leetia and I am a year 8 student attending Glen Taylor School. I am 12 years of age and I am in room 11. I am half Samoan and half Maori. In my family I have 3 sisters and 1 brother. Some of my favourite hobbies are singing, dancing and swimming.In learning I am good at writing. Writing is most probably my favourite subject because it’s where I get to express all my thoughts and ideas. Maths and Reading are my weakest subjects but I still try. I enjoy learning things I never knew before and creating beautiful pieces of art. My goals this year are to get higher grades in Reading and Maths and to be more confident speaking in front of a small or big group.This year I am looking forward to all the upcoming school events that they have prepared for us. I’m also looking forward to learning with other students and getting to know more about others. If I could think of someone that inspires me it would my teacher because she’s always there to help me when i’m stuck and she always tries her best to make our grades good. Thanks for looking at my blog. I can’t wait to share more stuff about my learning.
